TurnHere Blog

This year the TurnHere office celebrated Halloween a few days early, on Friday the 28th of October. There was office trick-or-treating at one in the afternoon and then party festivities at four. TurnHere parties are always the real deal; complete with chips, dip, brewski, AND gummi fingers and eyeballs.

Costume winner went to Molly, dressed up as Mrs. Potato Head. (precious right?!)

We wanted to show some neighborly love to the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, so several members of the TurnHere team volunteered at the 25th annual AIDS Walk San Francisco to capture the event and create some amazing videos. An estimated 25,000 walkers were on hand at the event that was held at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. The event raised more than $3 million for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and 48 other Bay Area HIV/AIDS agencies.

Why Do You Walk?

We caught up with Derek Overbey, Director of Marketing and Social Media for Roost, an online real estate search engine. In this short video Derek shares with us his top tips for using social media for sole proprietors. Many real estate agents, lawyers, accountants and other professions require the owners to do it all from the actual business to marketing and administrative work. But having to do it all means there isnt much time left over to do anything new, so in this interview Derek talks about what works and doesnt work in social media marketing and how local business owners and especially those that have to do it all themselves can make it fit in their busy schedules. You can follow Derek on Twitter at @roost or find him on the Roost Facebook Page.

After watching the video let us know in the comments what you do to make time for social media even with everything else you have to do as a business owner.

We caught up with TurnHeres own Zane Aveton at South by Southwest to get her top social media tips for local businesses. Zane is our Community Advocate and manages TurnHeres Facebook and Twitter accounts. She has her finger on the pulse of social media and especially how local businesses are using social media to create new business opportunities on the Web. You can follow Zane on Twitter via the TurnHere account (@turnhere). You can also connect with her on our Facebook Page.

2009 was a big year for bloggers and brands. One of our favorite blogger sites,  Foodbuzz.com, invited TurnHere TV to attend their 1st annual FoodBuzz Blogger Festival. After a full day of tasting some amazing food and meeting bloggers from across the country, we caught up with Laura Pitlik of Natures Pride Bread.  One thing we wanted to highlight for everyone was how forward thinking a traditional brand like Natures Pride is being by asking food bloggers to create recipes with their product.
