OXO, TurnHere, and DX Agency Team up in the Search for the Biggest OXOniac

Companies create a fun video-submission contest to find the new faces of OXO

11.19.2009 – Emeryville, Calif. – TurnHere , Inc., the leading online video marketing services company, announced that it has been selected to produce videos for OXO , the award-winning consumer household product maker. TurnHere, OXO, and social media firm DX Agency are partnering in the "Search for the Biggest OXOniac."

In a discussion around talent for the videos, the OXO team decided it wanted to call on fans to participate. “Our brand is founded on the principle of Universal Design, which is the concept of creating products that are easy to use by the widest spectrum of people,” explained Bena Shah, Sr. Brand Communications Manager at OXO. “It was only natural to turn to our fans, not professional actors or experts, to help tell this story.”

In the video submission contest, developed and built by DX Agency on behalf of OXO, fans are asked to create a 30-90 second audition submission that shows off their demo skills with their favorite kitchen product, whether it's a can-opener, mandoline, salad spinner or vegetable peeler, and describe why they are the “Biggest OXOniac” and should be selected as the winner. Three Grand Prize Winners will receive a starring role in OXO's videos, a trip to New York City, and $1,000 worth of OXO products.

To kick off the contest, TurnHere produced a two-minute video overview that introduces the contest details and goals, as well as shows a sample OXO demo to help spark ideas. Additionally, TurnHere will produce the final series of How-To videos starring the contest winners in 2010. "The search for the biggest OXOniac is a great way for OXO to engage its community and rally its fans around the brand and their favorite products. The contest ultimately fuses user-generated content and professionally-produced content to create excitement about the OXO line of products," said John McWeeny, COO at TurnHere.

"We see this as a wonderful way for dedicated fans of our brand to share their personal stories, provide us with important feedback as well as have some fun with the product,” explained Ms. Shah. "The final ‘How-To’ videos need to be polished and high quality, yet retain the same authentic and friendly feel of our fan-created videos."
